Your body can go weeks without food, which means that you should be able to go 6-7 hours without eating between meals.
If you’re hungry soon after you’ve just eaten, then here are 3 things you can do to stay satisfied/full longer:
1. Eat more protein.
Protein takes longer to digest, so it will keep you feeling full for longer periods of time.
2. Eat more foods containing fiber.
Fiber, just like protein, takes your body longer to digest, so you’ll feel satisfied for quite awhile after you’ve eaten.
3. Don’t eat only carbs at your meals.
Some carbs are quickly digested by the body, which will signal your body to go in search of more food even though you’ve just recently eaten.
The best way to avoid this is to include a healthy portion of protein and healthy fat at every meal. This will slow down the digestive process and keep you fuller for longer.
If your goal is to lose weight, then you must safely control the number of calories you’re eating.
This can be done by preparing well rounded meals that include protein, fibrous carbs and healthy fat.
If you can do this, your urge to snack will decrease and ultimately lead to consuming less calories.
